Hello I'm Sofia Coulman, welcome to my blog! I'm a freshman in college and have been interested in art and cultural history throughout my whole life. My interest peaked when I visited Europe and Asia, getting the chance to visit art museums in person. Because my interest has not faltered, I decided to make a blog! I will be researching art specific to cultures and regions around the world and sharing them with the viewers of this blog.
I am interested in the historical background of how art styles came to be in different areas of the world, what materials are used from the region and what symbols mean to different cultures. I think it is important to learn about other cultures and be able to recognize these unique art styles, giving you the ability to pass this knowledge onto other people or recognize a specific art style when you see it.
This blog will cover art styles existing to this day such as irezumi Japanese tattoos and those of the past such as elaborate tomb and temple art of Ancient Egypt, believed to be the point of contact between the dead and the living!
